What benefits do AOR members receive?
Full Membership in the National Recycling Coalition (NRC)
When you join the Association of Ohio Recyclers, you become a member of the NRC. Since 1987, the NRC has taken the lead in finding solutions to the nation’s solid waste problems. The NRC is the only non-profit organization representing all of the diverse interests committed to the common goals of maximizing recycling to achieve the benefits of resource conservation, environmental protection, energy conservation, and social and economic development. NRC’s members include recycling and environmental organizations, businesses, governments, and individuals. The Coalition, based in Washington, D.C., provides technical education, disseminates public information, shapes public and private policy on recycling, and operates programs that encourage recycling markets and economic development.
AOR Professional Education
The Association of Ohio Recyclers sponsors seminars, workshops, and facility tours designed to increase the professionalism of our industry. Some events are exclusively for AOR members. AOR members are offered reduced registration rates for open events and the annual NRC Congress and Exposition.
Ohio Partners Conference
AOR takes the lead in planning, organizing and sponsoring the Ohio Partners for Sustainable Development Conference: Recycling and Waste Minimization. Conference partners include Keep Ohio Beautiful (KOB), Ohio Association of Litter Prevention and Recycling Professionals (OALPRP), Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA), Ohio Solid Waste District Organization (OSWDO), and the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) – Buckeye Chapter.
Newsletters and Trade Magazines
Members get the quarterly AOR newsletter, The AOR Review. The NRC membership offers the opportunity to subscribe to recycling trade magazines, such as Resource Recycling, Recycling Today, and Waste News, at substantial discounts. This is a great opportunity to keep up-to-date with recycling news across the country.
